High Altitude Room
Elevate Your Training in the Altitude Room
Push your limits and unlock new levels of performance in the High Altitude Training Room at Remedy Grounds. This specialised space recreates low oxygen conditions similar to training at altitude, allowing you to experience the benefits of mountain training right here in South Melbourne.
By simulating elevations of approximately 3,100 to 3,500 metres, altitude training challenges your cardiovascular system, improves oxygen efficiency, and enhances endurance, strength, and recovery.
What is High Altitude Training
High altitude training involves exercising in a low oxygen environment, also known as hypoxic conditions. Reduced oxygen availability forces the body to adapt by improving oxygen delivery, cardiovascular efficiency, and cellular energy production.
At Remedy Grounds, altitude conditions are carefully controlled to safely replicate the physiological effects of training at high elevations without leaving sea level.
Benefits of High Altitude Training
-
Stimulates the body to produce more red blood cells, improving oxygen transport and aerobic capacity.
-
Trains the body to perform efficiently with less oxygen, making training at sea level feel easier.
-
Strengthens heart and lung function while increasing oxygen utilisation and efficiency.
-
Conditions muscles to work more efficiently, supporting greater strength output and explosive performance.
-
Helps the body adapt to physical stress, allowing longer training sessions and faster recovery.

-
Our altitude room reduces oxygen levels through controlled nitrogen infusion, creating hypoxic conditions. This forces the body to adapt by increasing red blood cell production, improving lung efficiency, and strengthening cardiovascular function.
-
Altitude training is suitable for athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and individuals looking to improve endurance, cardiovascular health, and overall performance. Beginners can also benefit with appropriate intensity guidance.
-
Yes. Training in low oxygen conditions feels more challenging, even at lower intensities. This is part of the adaptation process and leads to improved performance when returning to normal oxygen levels.
-
Most people benefit from one to three sessions per week, depending on training goals and recovery capacity.
-
Altitude training increases cardiovascular demand and energy expenditure, which may support fat loss when combined with structured training and nutrition.
-
Yes. Pairing altitude sessions with infrared sauna, cold plunge therapy, PEMF therapy, magnesium spa, or lymphatic drainage can support recovery, muscle repair, and overall performance.
